John Miller Design is grounded in a tradition of hand-wrought metalsmithing rarely seen at scale. In his Yallingup workshop, every piece is forged, engraved, finished, and hallmarked in-house using techniques refined over more than five decades at the bench.
This is jewellery shaped slowly and intentionally — designed to be worn for a lifetime, and to exist as something truly singular.
Inspiration is drawn from across Western Australia. Forms emerge from landscape and memory, resulting in designs shaped by Yallingup and Broome’s natural beauty.
Precious metals are forged, planished, and engraved entirely by John’s hands. The subtle variations and textures are intentional — evidence of the human touch.
Edges are refined, surfaces worked, and settings secured with enduring strength. Every detail is resolved at the bench to ensure the piece can be worn daily, lived in fully, and carried forward for generations.
MEET THE MAKER
For more than five decades, John Miller has built his life around the forge. Gold and silver are not assembled or cast, but worked directly by hand, shaped through heat, pressure, and time.
His path has taken him from the north of Australia to the coastline of the South West, where his workshop now stands. Throughout that journey, he has remained steadfastly independent, allowing process, material, and landscape to guide the work rather than external cycles or expectation.
Early on, he committed to traditional metalsmithing techniques at a time when much of the industry was shifting toward scale and efficiency. That choice established the foundation of his practice: disciplined, hands-on, and uncompromised.
Every engraved line and hand-worked surface reflects that continuity. Each piece carries not only its material strength, but the clarity of a singular maker shaping it from beginning to end.
